WICHITA — A 51-year-old Wichita man committed suicide by shooting himself in the head Monday afternoon at an indoor shooting range in Wichita. Police told the Wichita Eagle that the man, who wasn’t identified, was alone in a shooting lane that is separated from other lanes by reinforced concrete walls. However, police said there were several people at the shooting range when he shot himself. The investigation indicates that the man was at the range for the first time and that he rented a handgun and received instructions on how to safely use the gun. Police said the man shot several times at a target before shooting himself.
