KANSAS CITY — The Liberty Memorial in Kansas City will get a $5 million facelift next year. The monument and the National World War I Museum will stay open during the work. The work includes repairs to stonework, the dedication wall, and improvements in lighting, energy efficiency, security and irrigation. Work is scheduled to be done by next June. Officials plan to have the memorial prepared for the centennial of World War I, which begins in 2014.
