OSAWATOMIE — The Osawatomie Public Library will delay plans for a 2,500-square-foot expansion after being surprised that it won’t receive a $400,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Library director Elizabeth Trigg told the Osawatomie Graphic that the USDA’s announcement was a shock. She said the library had been assured it would receive the Community Development Block Grant funding but was blind-sided. The library will safeguard $100,000 in community donations to be used for matching funds for the next grant proposal in November, she said. The grant would have been used for the second major remodeling project. In the first project, the library installed a new elevator and revamped the library entrance.
