FRANKLIN COUNTY — The Franklin County Convention and Tourism’s Quilt Barn Block Tour has grown to 32 barns and has drawn national attention. Chris Campbell created the Quilt Barn Block Project and she gave a review to the Franklin County Farm Bureau Wednesday night. Specially-designed and painted quilt blocks are attached to barns in the county. Convention and Tourism has printed pamphlets and promoted a tour of the barns. Campbell says the quilt barns have been a magnet for tourists. The Franklin County Quilt Barns Blocks was the first organized program in Kansas and is being copied by other counties. Campbell says an author who has done a book on quilt block barns across the nation will visit Franklin County next spring and highlight the county in her second book.
