Garnett Tourism is holding a big contest, open to the public. They are in search of the next new Big Event in Garnett. The City is encouraging organizations to enter the “New 2022 Special Event Contest”. The winning Special Event will receive a minimum of $1,000 toward advertising of the new event or carrying out the event. They are looking for an event that will have a “WOW” factor that will make the event unique and allow the community to have fun and possibly attract outside visitors as well. Also, they would like the event to have a positive economic impact on the area, provide some type of educational and entertainment value.
It could feature the arts, such as a concert, art show or craft show. It could be cultural in nature, centered around a holiday or religious event, maybe a home and garden show or sports show. The Garnett Tourism Advisory Committee will invite all applicants to present their new special event idea before the committee and City Commission on Tuesday, November 16th. The deadline is November 15th and the winner will be announced on November 23rd.
