K-Dot has announced plans to make a portion of K-68 near Louisburg a four lane expressway. However, there are concerns about part of the project. Matt Kern is concerned that there are no turn lanes at the busy intersection of New Lancaster Road and K-68, a road that many motorists use on a daily basis to access K-68.
He and other residents started a Petition expressing their concerns and to inform locals about the State’s plan and to request further safety measures.
The Petition states they would like a speed reduction to 55 mph, from just west of New Lancaster & 68 highway and eastward to 69 highway to prepare high speed traffic for residential areas. A traffic light or roundabout at New Lancaster and K-68 to allow safe passage on and off the highway. Third, turn lanes off 68 for northbound and southbound access to New Lancaster to avoid rear end collisions at high speed.
As of this morning, 113 people have signed the Petition, which was started after Kerns heard the plan at last weeks meeting between K-Dot and citizens in Louisburg.
