The Ottawa Fire Department and local law enforcement held a ceremony commemorating the 21st Anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on America. The ceremony was held at the Veterans Memorial at 4th and Main. Ottawa Fire Chief, Tim Mathias, says America showed her resolve that day, in every city across the Nation, but, he says evil is still out there:
He spoke proudly of his crews, the Ottawa Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the job they all do to protect and serve Ottawa and Franklin County communities.
Also, on display, was a piece of iron beam from the World Trade Center, that was presented to the Ottawa Fire Department after the attacks. Mathias says it is held in high regard and invited the public to visit the Fire Station to see, not only it but the Memorial they have inside the lobby of the station.
