The City of Ottawa and Franklin County appear to be at logger-heads over how and whether to house the fire department and emergency medical services together at the station in South Ottawa. County Administrator, Derek Brown, says its a matter of the city wanting too much control over county property:

The ambulance and fire truck in South Ottawa separated in early 2020 and both parties are looking at a way to once again house the vehicles together. Officials say since separating, response times for the fire department to get to points in South Ottawa are taking longer and vice versa, the ambulance is taking longer to reach points in North Ottawa from its station in South Ottawa.
