The firefighting system in Europe differs in several ways from that of the United States….probably the most noticeable difference is that Europe uses a very high pressure water system, and the U. S. uses a relatively low pressure system. Dennis Legear is a former firefighter in Oakland who is now retired and consults with fire departments all over the country. He and another colleagues were in Ottawa last Wednesday, November 9th, to present a Fire Dynamics Seminar to about 150 area firefighters. Legear says the way homes are built in Europe are different than construction in the U. S. :
Legear says American firefighters have learned some valuable lessons from Europe, and likewise Americans are glad to share their firefighting knowledge with Europe.
