The holiday season is fast approaching and that means that a North Carolina, 78 foot red spruce named Ruby, will make its way to Washington D. C. to take its place among the long line of U. S. Christmas Trees, with its lighting ceremony schedule near the end of the month.
Loris Stroup, of the U. S. Forest Service tells us what to expect this next week:
Twelve thousand ornaments will adorn the tree. The lighting ceremony will be held on November 29th. A nine year old Cherokee Indian boy from North Carolina will have the honor, with a short speech and then lighting the tree.
