The Kansas Highway Patrol has released its Thanksgiving Holiday Activity Report. The reporting period is from 6 pm Wednesday the 23rd through midnight Sunday the 27th. The Kansas Highway Patrol worked three fatal crashes over the holiday reporting period. Fatal crashes occurred in Marion and Harvey Counties. One of those fatalities was due to drunk driving. There were four total fatalities in accidents during the reporting period.
There was a noted increase in DUI arrests this year compared to last, with the number almost doubling from 15 last year to 29 this year. Speed citations and safety belt warnings and citations were down slightly compared to last year, while motorist assist were up.
