The new transport van acquired by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has some features the old one lacked. Franklin County Commissioner, Don Stottlemire says it can carry more people, for one thing.
Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards says the van was purchased out of necessity. The old transport van had plenty of mechanical issues and several safety concerns, getting to the point where it was even questionable if they could safely transport inmates and staff in it. The new van addresses all those issues. Stottlemire says the van was paid with federal funds under the COVID 19 relief programs.
