Back in September, the City of Ottawa agreed to purchase the Ottawa Country Club Golf Course and Pool. The move was thought to be important as an added amenity for those businesses and industries wanting to move to the city. At last week’s Ottawa City Commission Meeting, a series of budget amendments was passed, including one for the country club. So, does that mean the city owns the property out right? City Manager Richard Nienstedt says, hold on:
The total purchase price was $288,000. The course is leased to the Great Life Affiliate owned by Mike and Mark Mallory until March of 2026. Nienstedt says they are working on a grant from the Kansas Wildlife and Parks to help with the purchase.
