An accident involving a USD 290 school bus put a huge scare into several kids that were on the bus. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, at 6:45 Monday morning, December 12th, 38-year-old Stephen Arney was driving the bus southbound in the 2100 block of Idaho Road near Homewood, when the bus hit soft gravel, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a tree. Cobbs credited an older student that was able to keep the kids calm, and says the newly installed seat belt system on all Ottawa busses were a major factor in preventing injuries in the accident.
