Friday afternoon, December 16th, the Wellsville Police Department began an investigation into allegations that two juvenile’s possessing a firearm, demanded money from other students, after school hours on the Wellsville High School Campus. Officers began an immediate investigation along with USD 289 staff.
Officers were able to quickly locate a vehicle matching the vehicle involved, leaving the Wellsville High School Campus. Officers took a 17-year-old-male from Franklin County into custody as part of the investigation. Officers took a 15-year-old male from Wellsville into custody at his home as part of the investigation later that afternoon. An air-soft gun was recovered that the juvenile’s possessed and allegedly use in the incident on the school campus.
The juvenile’s were transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center. Once completed the investigation will be sent to the Franklin County Attorney’s Office for potential charges. No injuries were reported in the incident.
