Sunday evening January 1, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a woman lying in a ditch with an apparent gunshot wound. When deputies arrived at 299th street and Somerset Road, they found an adult female in her 40’s suffering from a gunshot wound. Miami County EMS transported the woman to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. Not a lot of information is available on the cse right now. Undersheriff Mathew Kelly says his office is continuing to investigate the incident and following up on any leads that have come in. No suspect in the shooting has been taken into custody, however, he does not believe there is any threat to the community.
They are asking for the public’s assistance in the case. Kelly asks that if you have any information regarding the shooting to contact the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, call 911, or contact any law enforcement agency with that information.
