You might think the Ottawa Fire Department has full-time firefighters. Of course that is true, but in addition to that, the department also has volunteer firefighters. Ottawa Fire Chief, Tim Matthias, says they have to measure up just like the regular firefighters:
Matthias says if a vacancy for a full-time firefighter position come open, then the volunteers are a pool from which he could hire.
