A community planning organization which has been gathering opinion data from city residents and others for nearly two years, will move toward executing action plans based on its findings, over the coming months, and is planning a January 27 meeting to start developing the action phase of its project. “Growing Garnett Heart & Soul” has been an ongoing project since January of 2020. The group has seven value areas identified so far. They are arts and culture, locally owned and operated business are the key to garnett, historic preservation, recreational amenities, sense of community, a small town feel, and finally, the volunteer spirit.
Expect to see a lot of events from this group in the near future. They give routine updates to the Garnett City Commission about events they have planned in Garnett and would like to plan with the commissions help.
