Expect to see come construction work on the turnpike in the next couple years. The Kansas Turnpike Authority announced bids have been approved and contracts awarded on three upcoming turnpike construction projects. One of those is in Osage County. The Soldier Creek Bridge is scheduled for re-decking and widening. The contract for just short of $4 million was awarded to a.m. cohron and A. M. Cohron and Sons, out of Atlantic, Iowa. Work will take place on the bridge during the 2023 and 2024 construction season.
The other contracts were for bridge work in Lyon County and the placement of high friction surfaces in Chase County. Details will be available closer to the start dates to the projects.
