The Franklin County Conservation District is set to recognize the 2022 Annual Bankers Award winners. The winner for Conservation is Camp Chippewa in recognition of conservation work and stewardship of the land. Not only does this award recognize camp directors and staff, but also the countless volunteers who give their time to improve the landscape for all who enjoy time at Camp Chippewa. Camp Chippewa has implemented many conservation practices including cover crops, interior cross fence, pasture management, brush clearing and abandoned water well plugging .

The Grassland Conservation Award winner is Rudy Manes in recognition of outstanding conservation of grassland he owns and operates in Franklin County. Rudy has created a successful pasture management system through the use of interior cross fence for rotational grazing, installation of various water supply tanks for improved pond quality and utilizes a prescribed grazing plan resulting in improvements of the whole health of the grassland in his care.

The awards will officially be presented at the annual meeting of the Franklin County Conservation District on Thursday January 26th, beginning at noon at Celebration Hall on the Franklin County Fairgrounds.
