What appeared to be a routine item of business before the Franklin County Commission instead generated a fair amount of discussion…….up for renewal was a request to participate in the Rural Opportunity Zone Student Loan Repayment Program for the sum of $7,500 for 2023…..Commissioner Colt Waymire had an objection.
After extended discussion, the Commission voted to approve participating in the program this year, but with no money pledged for the effort. The County is still financially committed to supporting students who have previously signed up for the program.
