Kansas Governor Laura Kelly will give her Annual State of the State Address tomorrow night at the Kansas State House in Topeka. She is expected to address the tremendous growth in economic development the state has seen the past year, including the biggest development project ever, the $4 billion Panasonic battery plant in DeSoto, which is expected to bring over 8,000 jobs to the area. Also in the message, a call for the Legislature to end the food sales tax completely by July first instead of the gradual elimination in place now. Also, the need to work across the aisle to balancing Kansas’ Budget, funding schools, expand medicaid.
The State of the State Address was postponed from a couple weeks ago when the Governor initially tested positive for COVID 19; however, after repeated negative testing, the test was deemed a false positive. The State of the State Address is scheduled to take place at 6:30 tomorrow evening January 24th.
