The man accused of murdering his roommate in June at 11th and Ash in Ottawa was in court recently for a status conference. Court officials have determined that a preliminary hearing in the case of Anthony Alvarado will be held on May 4th at 9:00 in the morning. At that point, the prosecution will reveal evidence against Alvarado and will attempt to establish there is probable cause to believe that the crime has been committed and the defendant committed the crime and convince the judge that there is enough evidence to hold a trial.
Judge Kevin Kimball will preside over the hearing. Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner says this is the first murder in the city limits of Ottawa in over 10 years.
