The fentanyl issue Ottawa experienced the past couple months seems to have subsided a bit, but, the pills and the threat are still out there, in large numbers. Over the weekend, Kansas City Police recovered thousands of fentanyl-laced pills. The department’s narcotics unit seized over 10,000 counterfeit prescription pills during a routine sweep of a local shipping distribution center. Police say the pills were laced with the highly potent drug fentanyl. Franklin County Sheriff Jeff Richards:

The pills were nearly identical to those distributed at a pharmacy, but contain potentially lethal amounts of fentanyl. Richards says the drug is up to 50-times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Once ingested or inhaled, most overdoses occur within minutes.
