The City of Garnett is looking at a pretty hefty bill to replace some generators that supply the city with backup electricity in case of an emergency. Millions of dollars are involved. But, could East Kansas AGRI Energy supply the City of Garnett with their electricity? That’s being heavily considered as Bill Pract, with Agri Energy ,says they are about to install huge turbines to power their plant and will have excess that could supply the City of Garnett and allow both to reduce their electrical cost:

The idea started a few years ago and was accelerated when the arctic blast a couple years ago forced the price of energy up dramatically. Pract says Agri Energy is working to get the turbines set up in the next year and when Garnett contracts expire with the energy groups, they could take over as the supplier. Pract says it’s possible that they could also be the natural gas supplier to the city in the future.

Expect a lot of talk and discussion concerning this topic in future meetings.
