Kansas Attorney Kris Kobach still plans to sue the Federal Government over regulations designed to protect the Lesser Prairie Chicken, despite a 60-day delay in implementing the rules. In November, the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced the listing of some Lesser Prairie Chicken populations as endangered, while Kansas was included in the threatened population. Last week, the service announced an extension to March 27.
Last week, the Kansas Senate, on a voice vote, adopted a resolution to “disapprove the designation of the Lesser Prairie Chicken as a threatened species.” the resolution supports the five Kansas Congressional Republicans and their efforts to “return control to the farmers, ranchers and energy producers of Kansas.”
