It appears likely that when it’s all said and done, the Ottawa City Commission will open the doors to more citizens in town having chickens. During the Regular City Study Session, Commission Emily Graves said people need to know some facts about keeping chickens:

As the price of eggs and other grocery items increase, several people have asked the city about raising chickens. The city allows them now, under certain restrictions, so the issue is whether to allow more residents to have chickens. Commissioners have asked City Attorney Blaine Finch to draw up a possible Ordinance concerning the matter, for their review.
