Governor Laura Kelly announced that her bills to provide affordable health care access for low-wage hardworking Kansans were introduced yesterday in Committees of the Kansas House and Kansas Senate. By expanding Medicaid, Kansas taxpayers will have access to health care services they are already paying for through federal taxes. Kelly says she will never give up trying to get Medicaid expanded in Kansas and this is the fifth proposal to the Legislators early in the session.

If passed, Kansas would receive $370 million in Federal money over the next two years, enough to cover the states share of expansion costs up to 8 years. Kelly says if it is not passed, it will mean a loss of $70 million in State General Fund savings for the next fiscal year.
