The Franklin County Commission has put what may be a permanent halt to the development of wind farms in the county. The commission held a ‘marathon meeting’ during which many people got up to express their opposition to the project. At the beginning of the meeting, Attorney Allen Anderson, who represented the developer, Tower Associates, pointed out the narrow confines of the issue at hand.
Anderson’s arguments were not persuasive for most of the 125 people gathered in the Commission Chambers. The Commission voted 4 to 0 to deny the Special User Permit, which effectively kills the project for the foreseeable future.
