An Ottawa man has been charged with distribution of fentanyl. Detectives with the Franklin County Drug Enforcement Unit and the Northeast Kansas Drug Task Force arrested 29-year-old Carl Otto, of Ottawa. Otto has been formally charged by the Franklin County Attorney’s Office with unlawful distribution of fentanyl, unlawful distribution of the drug using a communications device and no drug tax stamp. He is in custody with a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
Sheriff Jeff Richards says the investigation was an incredible team effort, involving multiple agencies. Franklin County Ottawa Police, Johnson County, Shawnee Police and the DEA. Detectives were able to utilize a variety of investigation tactics, share resources and extensive experience to resolve the situation safely with the public’s well being at the forefront. Richards say with fentanyl being a nationwide problem, everyone must remain vigilant to save lives and protect the community.
