The icy road conditions in our area Thursday, February 16th, led to numerous slide offs and accidents, fortunately none too serious; however, there were two that sent people to the hospital. The first at 6:44 in the morning. Forty one year-old Ronald Zahorik was driving on the 2700 block of Butler Road and lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, struck a ditch and rolled onto the drivers side. He was transported to AdventHealth Ottawa for treatment of minor injuries.
The second accident occurred just before 9:00 in the morning. Twenty four year-old Tyler Barnett, of Ottawa, was traveling south on Old 59 Highway at Pawnee Road when he struck 57-year-old Allen Kunard, of Ottawa, who was walking across the roadway. Barnett’s vehicle was then struck from the rear by a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Abdur Ali, of Ottawa. Kunard suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to AdventHealth Ottawa for treatment. No word on his condition.
