Two house fires Saturday February 18th, kept fire crews busy in both the county and in Ottawa. The first call came in just after 8:00 in the morning. Tracy and Kelli Fischer reported their home at 363 Colorado Road near Williamsburg was on fire. When crew arrived, they found the house fully engulfed and set to work to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, the home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation. A Go-Fund-Me page has been set up for the Fischer’s, as well as a meal train. Donations of food can be dropped off at Ottawa High School.
The second fire call came in shortly before noon Saturday. A person driving by the home at 1137 South Ash in Ottawa reported a motorcycle was on fire in the driveway. That person alerted the occupant of the home and by the time he got out of the house, the fire had spread to a pile of leaves and then to the garage. Ottawa fire crews were on scene within minutes of the call and were able to contain the fire to the north and west side of the garage area. The rest of the house was still livable and the occupant was able to stay at the residence. No cause or damage estimate has been released
