With severe weather season upon us, the City of Garnett has a storm shelter available to the public during severe weather, located at 9th Avenue and Oak Street. It can hold up to 45 people. Other storm shelter locations in Anderson County include: Colony ā€“ the shelter is attached to the fire station on the northeast corner at Pine Street. In Harris, the shelter is south of the fire station at the corner of Second and Spruce Streets. In Kincaid ā€“ there are two shelters. One in the park, southwest of intersection of K-31 Highway and Preston Street, and the other at the northwest corner of 1st Avenue and Osage Street. In Greeley, a shelter is located at the corner of Mary Street and Brown Avenue. At Welda, the shelter can be found between Scott and Kauble Avenues. In Westphalia, two shelters are available. One is north of the fire station on Warne Street, between Lincoln and Garrison Avenues, and the other is on 4th Avenue, east of Liberty Street, across from a small school building.
