Yesterday, Congressman Jake LaTurner questioned officials from U. S. Customs and Border Protection and U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement about the crisis at our southern border. This questioning occurred during the House Oversight and Accountability Subcommittee hearing. Congressman LaTurner highlighted how the National Security and humanitarian crisis at our southern border is intensifying the fentanyl epidemic facing Kansas communities. He says Secretary Mayorkas told him that he believes the border is secure. LaTurner says that claim could not be further from the truth.
He says it’s far past time for action and believes that the Federal Government is failing a core Constitutional duty…enforcing border security and safeguarding the citizens, saying we can and must do better.
