A big day in Wellsville today, March 10, as the Wellsville City Library will hold a groundbreaking ceremony. The groundbreaking marks over 10 years of work on getting the library expanded for the public. It will consist of a 2,700 square foot addition to the existing library building, and feature a new Community Meeting Room with a full kitchen, restrooms and more. The renovation will convert the current meeting room into a children’s library and also offer expanded use of the existing library for adults, young adults and computer access.
The Wellsville Friends of the Library received a $150,000 grant from the Sunderland Foundation to assist in the library addition. Through the grant, and annual fundraisers, and generous private donations, which raised another $120,000, the building goal has become a reality. The ceremony is scheduled for this afternoon at 4:00 outside the library in Wellsville.
