Third District U. S. Representative, Sharice Davids, was in DeSoto this week, shadowing workers on the K-10 Lexington Avenue and 103rd Street exit. She called it a “Sharice Shift” where she gets out with the people to learn as much as possible about what is going on in the district:

She actually was able to do some work, helping with potholing for utilities, which is a non-destructive digging process that uses vacuum excavation to dig precision holes to expose utility lines. She added that the goal is that subsidiary companies serving the new Panasonic Battery Plant will plan their development in an area close by, including the Ottawa area.

The Kansas Department of Commerce estimates more than 20,000 jobs will be created because of the developing $4 billion Panasonic facility.
