Tuesday, the Kansas House Education Committee worked on Senate Bill 13 and passed it favorably out of committee. It would permit certain local broadcasters to provide broadcast services of a school’s postseason activities even thought the State High School Activities Association enters into an exclusive broadcast agreement for postseason activities. Right now, locals can live stream games in the regular season but are shut out when it comes to post season play. Schmoe says the bill is being sent to the Senate and if approved, blocks the Activities Association from entering an exclusive contract with a private company for post game coverage. She says it will most likely pass and with a margin large enough to make it veto proof.
