Last week was National Poison Prevention Week and most people think about poisonings when it comes to medication. The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the most common poisonings occur when kids get a hold of blood pressure medication, acetaminophen, antidepressants, ibuprofen and attention deficit disorder medications:
Some tips…keep medications stored in a locked cabinet or box. Keep them in their original child resistant containers. Discard unused medication properly. Most pharmacies have a drop off container for such medications. Never call medicine candy around children. Call poison help at 1-800-222-1222 if anyone takes a medication they are not supposed to take.
