Yesterday, March 21st, was National Agriculture Day in the United States. At the ceremonies in Washington D. C., AG Secretary, Tom Vilsack made an opening statement that initially shocked a lot of people….until he clarified himself:
He said if you eat, you should thank farmers and everyone else in the food chain. He then quoted a new report that indicated that the food and AG industry is far more important to the Nation than most people realize:
There are 46 million people employed directly or indirectly because of the United States farm and food industry. So, when you eat today, thank a farmer.
