The Kansas Department of Health and Environment Bureau of Waste Management has announced the recipients of Waste Tire Grant Products, and several area organizations and local governments have received a grant. In Franklin County, the City of Ottawa received $5,892 for tables and benches… Central Heights Elementary School received $886 for surfacing. In Miami County, the City of Louisburg received $4,400 for tables and benches. In Anderson County, Ozark Colony Cemetery District gets nearly $2,000 and in Osage County, the City of Overbrook will get $1,088 dollars, while Osage City will receive $14,106 for surfacing and tables.

Over $500,000 in Grants were awarded to fund projects that include the use of recycled tire products, including playground surfacing and picnic tables. The grants were funded by revenue collected through the tire excise tax at 25 cents per vehicle tire fee.
