The next Adjutant General will assume his post early next month. Brigadier General Michael Venerdi will receive authority in a Transfer Ceremony April 1st at the Statehouse in Topeka. Venerdi will be the 38th Adjutant General, taking over the the Retiring General, David Weishaar. Venerdi is currently the Director of the Kansas National Guard Joint Staff and has decades of experience in the U. S. Air Force and Kansas National Guard. The Kansas Adjutant General’s Department says the ceremony will include the traditional Exchange of the Command Flag and a Cannon Salute at 2:00 Saturday afternoon, April 1st on the South steps of the Kansas Statehouse.

Weishaar joined the Air Force in 1981 as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. In 1985 he enlisted in the Kansas Air National Guard, holding various positions in the aircraft maintenance arena, rising from the lowest enlisted rank of Airman Basic to Senior Master Sergeant. In 1996 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, after graduating as a Distinguished Graduate from the Air National Guard’s Academy of Military Science.
