The Garnett City Commission is moving forward with plans on the Cedar Valley Reservoir Project. Garnett applied for FEMA Funds for the repair and was approved, but the 2020 pandemic shutdown put off the project for the past two years.

As part of the Federal Emergency Management Program, FEMA requires proof of posting the final public notice in two locations. The City of Garnett posted final public notice on their facebook page and website a few days ago and the public has one more week to comment on the order. The final public notice addresses the issue, explains the problem and what remedies will be used to fix the issues. In this case repairing and upgrading the auxiliary spillway to make it more resilient to future flooding and reduce the risk of adverse impacts to the Garnett community that relies on Cedar Valley Reservoir as its source of potable water.
