Ever wonder how safe your money is in Anderson County? The majority of bankers say they’ve heard only limited concerns from their area customers regarding the issue. Jeff McAdam, with Goeppert State Service Bank in Garnett, says the vast majority of their deposits are below the $250,000 FDIC Insurance Limit. He says the one thing driving customers is deposit rates. They are moving up so saving money in the bank is looking better all the time.
Farmers State Bank, Janice Sprague, says local customers seem to get the difference between huge tech-oriented banks and local banks servicing local customers. She says they are a $50 million bank who knows customers and greets them by name, not a $213 billion bank who has no idea what their customers names are.
The Kansas Bankers Association reports that local banks are stable and the bank closures are not the norm or financial strength of banks across Kansas and America.
