Quite a scene outside AdventHealth Ottawa this morning as an explosion was reported inside a trash truck. A worker was injured in that blast and taken to the Advent emergency room. As authorities converged on the scene, Advent CEO Dallas Purkeypile says they went on lockdown, but inside, no services were disrupted.
The incident started just before 6:00 this morning. Since then, Ottawa Police, Fire and the Olathe Bomb Squad have determined the scene safe and crews are clearing the scene. The explosion was due to a pneumatic tool that came apart as the trash was compacted . We will have more on the incident soon.
