USD 290 is losing a great educator and Administrator. After 11 years in the Ottawa District, Lincoln Elementary Principal, Austin Entress, is looking for change. The longtime principal announced in a letter sent to Lincoln parents Thursday evening, March 23rd, that he was resigning at the end of this school year and had accepted a position at the Greenbush Education Services in Lawrence as their Assistant director of administrative Director of Administrative Services.

He says that helping all of the kids grow has been an amazing blessing in his life and one that he hasn’t taken for granted. However, change is good for everyone and he feels that the time is right to allow himself to grow with a new challenge. He went on to say his family will still be around the community and he looks forward to watching all of the Lincoln kids grow up and see them around town.

Entress started his career in Emporia where he taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies before becoming Assistant Principal in the same building. He and his family moved to Ottawa in 2012, what he calls one the best decision in his life. He first served as Assistant Principal at Ottawa Middle School four years before taking the Principal position at Lincoln in 2016. Entres says Lincoln was full of great educators before he arrived and it will be full of great educators long after he is gone.
