Two people were arrested in Osawatomie late last week after police officers investigated reports of prescription medications being sold from a residence. According to Osawatomie Police Chief David Stuteville, detectives gathered enough evidence during the investigation to obtain a search warrant for 200 E. Main Street. Osawatomie police officers executed the search warrant and two people were arrested. 34-year-old Carl Keats and 34-year-old Ashley Edwards booked into jail for possession of a controlled substances, both benzodiazepine, which is commonly known as valium, xanax and possession of marijuana. Several items found verified the distribution of those substance.

The arrest came less than a week after six people were arrested in Miami and Linn Counties for distribution of meth and other charges. Chief Stuteville says the Osawatomie Police are taking a proactive role in combating trafficking and distribution of drugs.
