Just before 6:00 yesterday morning,March 27th, Ottawa police and fire responded to 13th Street in front AdventHealth Ottawa. A trash truck had delivered a worker who had been injured in an explosion from within the truck. Not knowing what they were dealing with, police cordoned off the area and out of extreme caution, not knowing what may be in the truck, the Olathe Bomb Squad was called to the scene. Fortunately, it ended well. Ottawa Police Department Public Information Officer, J. W. Hawkings, wraps up the incident:
AdventHealth was on lockdown for a short time, however, CEO Dallas Purkeypile, says services in the hospital were not interrupted.
The worker injured in the explosion was treated for his injuries at AdventHealth and released.
