A fire yesterday afternoon, April 4th, in Osage County destroyed a home. Just before 1:00 yesterday afternoon, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a house on fire at 15092 Shawnee Heights Road, just north of Overbrook. Osage County Fire Districts #4-Overbrook/Michigan Valley and #1-Carbondale, Osage County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Osage County EMS responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Additional mutual aid was requested from Osage County Fire District #5-Lyndon/Vassar and Shawnee Heights Fire District.
Despite their best efforts, the home was a total loss. Nobody was home at the time of the fire, but unfortunately, several dogs and puppies did not make it out. The cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation by the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office.
