The Franklin County Development Council became certified as an E-Community in July of last year. The “E” stands for Entrepreneurship. The hope is to increase and promote small business formation in the county. One of those ways available is through what’s called Gap Funding. Council Director, Paul Bean, explains:
Through their partnership with Network Kansas, the Franklin County E-Community has been able to have its first success story. Recently they were able to provide Riley Browning, of Browning Barbering, a $30,000 loan for his soon-to-be barber shop at 230 S. Main Street in Ottawa. Riley is already an established barber in town and has chosen to continue his business in Ottawa by opening his own shop.
