City officials will meet with the public later today to review the findings of a Housing Study, commissioned recently to determine the prospects for housing development in the local area. The meeting will be held at Town Hall Center at 5:00 this afternoon, and is open to the public.
Anderson County Development Agency Director, Julie Turnipseed, says the meeting will discuss the results of a Focus Group Interview, conducted in March, with a group of about 25 local residents, as well as review a Mini-Market Analysis prepared by RDG Planning & Design of Omaha, Nebraska, which conducted the Study.
The issue’s became more defined recently with the announcement of three major industrial projects to be built within commuting distance of Garnett, in the next couple years.
Turnipseed says the Study was designed to provide factual data to be used to attract developers interested in pursuing housing projects locally and will disclose where housing gaps exist.
